Too summarised
The animated series should be betterWatched Blood: The Last Vampire with Baby @ The Cathay ytd. I always thought Blood was a pretty good anime in its own right with an engaging storyline. Guess the movie adaptation was a tad disappointing. Given the length of frametime, the story was rather cramped with plenty of subtle fast-forwards.
The one thing that I felt was totally unneccesary in the movie was the Asian characters who can't seem to speak English properly. The overall dialogue was also quite cheesy. Nonetheless, the fight scenes were good enough to garner some attention, though they could really do better with all the CG gore and stuff. One look can tell it's fake.
Verdict: Straight-to-DVD quality. I'll stick to the animation on this one.
