Woot, our podcast trial is a success. Our equipment works fine and we have an adequate software to kick off our first nonsense episode. LOL. We ended up toking nonsense for 17mins+...wth...lidat also can...
General review: Not good enuff but dun comprain
1. We were using Skype to facilitate our dialogue. Skype was pretty good in transmission so we experienced minimal lag, though Ivern mentioned he heard what was supposedly his own voice but it was robotic. Could be software, hardware or transmission issue. We will trial more on this later. Or maybe he's not human after all...o.o
2. I was using Audacity (free open-source sound recording/editing software; i cheapo leh) to record our dialogue. User-friendly interface and supports multiple audio tracks in one recording (so this is how they do one-man beatbox symphony). Finished tracks can be exported using the sibeh Lame MP3 encoder engine or OGG (i dunno y call OGG..maybe means Orh Gui Gong).
3. Ivern's using Logitech stereo headphones w/mic. I'm using Creative one. Supposedly got noise cancellation but like pian lang one leh. Cos Ivern can still hear my mum coughing in the kitchen. Either the mic very gilat or my mum's cough is power.
4. Cos im recording directly from my sound card so my voice ended up louder than Ivern's coming in thru Skype. Need to improvise on that. And when i laugh, my mic tends to "catch the wind". Need to adjust the positioning of the mic. Lidat means i cant record my fart liao. Cos it wouldn't sound like it. Hmmm. Ivern could do with a little mic boost over at his end.
5. We were mostly speaking in Mandarin. The next episode we should try more Singrish.
Ok, all in all, it's a good first try. Dats y i named the clip "virgin.mp3". Beri new. Beri virgin. ^5 Ivern.
But den, I decided not to post this clip up. Bcos it's a no-topic episode and we were juz ranting off randomly. We shall do a proper one in the days to come.
