This was the supposedly well-planned trip for the gang. A beach getaway at the edge of tall hills covered in thick foliage with rolling fluffy white clouds drifting silently under the hot sun.
Picturesque. Exotic. Undeniable beauty.
Only 5 of us went. There should be more. Well...too bad they missed out.
Resort - Beach front
Drove up to Mersing. 2 hours? Then took a ferry to Tioman. Another 2 hours perhaps.
Not exactly a resort. It's just a holiday chalet establishment with basic amenities. I forgot is it the Sofia or Sofian Chalets. The good thing is it faces the beach and sea. Open the door you feel the sea breeze, close the door you hear the waves crashing on shore. Paradise man...where to find?
Only thing lacking? No hot water. The place's pretty new so can't blame. Maybe next time when I visit again things are better.
There are shops scattered along the main road behind the chalet. Duty-free booze widely available. Beer's only about a dollar plus per can. So imagine how much tax our government is siphoning from us back home? Fucking leeches. There are quite abit of stuff on sale that are way back in time when I was a kid. Like the figure of 8 choc candy. That is wayyyy old.
Activities
Bicycles and motorbike rentals are available at a very cheap rate. Bike - 5RM/hr. Motor - 15RM/hr. Shiok lor...especially when I dun ride motor one...den no need wear helmet. Most fun part - we rented the motors on the 2nd day and halfway thru the ride it started to rain. Walao best lor...ride in the rain with the wind slapping droplets onto my face...damn refreshing...and cold.
Went snorkelling at a few spots. Baby's mask keep getting water in. She couldn't balance herself in the water very well. Nevermind...learn now next time do better. I was sporting a headache the night before bcos of my stupid wisdom tooth which apparently was not wise enough to not act up when I was having fun. Why call it a wisdom tooth anyway? The water's cold and I dun wan my headache to come back again so I chose to end my snorkelling after the 2nd spot and head back to the beach. Thankfully the sun's great so baby and I tanned on the beach instead. Ahh heaven...
Food
Our meals were mostly covered by the cost. Tastefully done kampung dishes. My tastebuds are pretty satisfied. We had a BBQ dinner on the 2nd night. Lots of sotong and fish and sausages and chicken and corn. Big match on TV. Freaking Man U lost 1-4 to effing Liverpool.
Would I go back? Are you kidding? I missed waking up to the sea breeze, the suntanning and dipping in the cool clear waters, the motorbike rides, the sunset, the cloudless nightsky, the campfire in front of my hut, the cheap booze and the friendly people. I would bloody live there!
